At a Glance
  • 143,762 tons of CO2 reduced annually
  • 49,000 solar cookers installed

  • 196,000 local community members impacted

Projects Benefits
  • Primary energy source for cooking tasks is moved away from fossil fuels (coal), displacing any resulting carbon emissions
  • Improves the air quality and living conditions inside local homes

  • Provides an affordable and reliable source of clean energy

About social
These projects support communities by improving quality of life and stimulating economic development. This is achieved through initiatives like improved household technologies and access to everyday necessities like clean drinking water.
How it works
  • Participating households pay a small part towards the solar cooker cost

  • Project developer secures funding through the sale of carbon offsets to fund the remaining costs of the solar cookers

  • Households are fit with the solar cookers, which harness energy from the sunshine in this very sunny region

  • Because the cookers are solar powered there is no need for the use of fossil fuels for everyday cooking tasks, reducing CO2 emissions.

  • The project promotes the use of clean energy, educates and trains the rural community and builds awareness on environmental protection.
Proof of Carbon Accounting
To ensure transparency, Green Story Carbon Registry tracks issuance and retirement of carbon credits for all projects on the Green Story offset platform.
